Mini Speed Sensor LM393 (ARD393)

R40.01

The LM393 Mini Speed Sensor Module is an infrared optical sensor designed to detect rotational speed, movement and interruptions in a light beam.

It uses an infrared transmitter and receiver with an LM393 comparator to produce a digital output signal. Ideal for Arduino, robotics, motor speed measurement, wheel encoders and DIY electronics projects.

Compatibility

Arduino, ESP32 and microcontrollers

Speed Measurement

Depends on encoder disc and controller

Pin Connections

  • VCC: 3.3V–5V DC power supply

  • GND: Ground (negative)

  • DO: Digital signal output

Applications

  • Motor RPM measurement

  • Robot wheel speed detection

  • Encoder disc counting

  • Rotation monitoring

  • DIY robotics and school projects

The sensor requires a compatible encoder disc or rotating slotted wheel to measure RPM. An Arduino or other controller counts the pulses to calculate speed.
